General Commercial Merchandise

A prospective area for general wholesale merchandise that does not fit the other categories and is lawful to trade.

A produce market stall with fruit and vegetables. The stall’s own labels are not Meridian prices or products.

General commercial merchandise is a prospective category for wholesale goods that a distributor or trading partner may wish to discuss when they do not sit neatly under agriculture, food, materials, or a defined manufactured line. It is not a mixed container of unnamed goods, and it is not a closeout list.

Broad merchandise requests are harder to review. The more specific the product, quantity, and destination, the more useful the enquiry. Meridian may decline requests that are too general to discuss responsibly.

Illustrative examples

  • General wholesale goods described by item, not by a vague assortment
  • Seasonal or promotional merchandise where a supplier can be identified
  • Trading-company to trading-company discussions about a defined product

What to include if you enquire

  • Name the goods. “General merchandise” alone is not a specification.
  • Say who the commercial customer is in general terms: a wholesaler, a retailer, or another trader.
  • Quantity, destination, and any packaging or branding need.
  • List documents you can provide or that you expect to review.

Considerations that sit outside this website

  • Assorted or unidentified cargo is a poor basis for a cross-border discussion.
  • Intellectual property matters. Do not send enquiries that ask anyone to copy a protected product.
  • If the goods belong in a more specific category on this site, use that category so the review is clearer.

Ask whether this category can be discussed.

Name the product, the quantity, and the destination. Meridian will say if the enquiry can be reviewed. That is not an acceptance.
